why do Christians and muslims believe that adultery is bad

- adultery goes against the marriage vows that are made in the presence of eachother, witnesses and God to be faithful to eachother
- adultery causes upset and harm - it is not a loving thing to do and would be seen as wrong
- hebrews teaches that the marriage bed should be kept “PURE” and God will “ judge the adulterer and sexually immoral”
- Qur’an describes adultery as an “ outrage and an evil path” - surah and the hadith says those who engage in illicit sex will be “ punished
- shari’ah law gives the death penalty as possible punishments for adultery, demonstrating how seriously adultery is punishable in islam ( but it requires 4 witnesses to be deemed punishable )
what are positive attitudes to sex before marriage
- liberal christians ( quakers ) -it is not necessarily wrong between 2 consensual adults. Nature of relationship is key . it may be made healthy way to express love within a modern commited relationship
