Explain intention.
A
- How hard people are willing to try to perform a behaviour
- The stronger the intention, the more likely the behaviour will be performed
- Determined by 3 variables - attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavioural control

Explain behavioural attitude?
A
- Overall personal attitude towards their addiction
- Formed by weighing up positive & negative evaluations

Explain subjective norms.
A
- Perceived beliefs about other people’s attitudes towards their addiction

Explain perceived behavioural control.
A
- The extent they believe they an control their behaviour (self efficacy)
- Whether they think it’ll be easy/difficult to quit their addiction
- Can affect our behaviour directly

How could the Theory of Planned behaviour be used to reduce addiction?
A
- Changing behavioural attitude - creating different attitude towards addiction - bad for health/doesn’t help achieve goals
- Changing subjective norms - giving data about how many people actually engage in risky behaviour
- Changing perceived behavioural control - helping addicts focus on willpower & effort
