Thyroid Hormones Flashcards
(3 cards)
1
Q
TH3
A
Hormone that is primarily responsible for the effects of TH. Most T4 is converted to T3 in peripheral tissues. TH receptors have an affinity for T3 5 times higher than to T4
2
Q
MCT and OATP
A
Protein families that transport T4 and T3 into cells. Damaged MCT8 leads to damaged neurological function.
3
Q
TH Receptor (TR)
A
Stimulates or inhibits transcription when it is bound to ligand. In the absence of a ligand, TR is not inactive but does the opposite of what it would in the presence of ligand.
