What is a nebula?
Cloud of dust and gas, mainly h2
What is a protostar?
When dust and gas get pulled together by Gravity
What is red shift?
Long wavelengths emitted from distant galaxies
When a galaxy is moving near us as we move from a centre point, what colour is it?
Blue
When does a protostar turn into a star?
nuclear fusion of h2turns into helium happens
When is a star in equilibrium?
when it’s gravity and nuclear fusion energy happen at same rate
What happens to small stars when they die?
outward force is less and collapse, it gets hot, then heavy elements form and it expands into red giant. stops fusing helium, shrinks into white dwarf, stops releasing energy, black dwarf
What happens to big stars when they die?
It gets hot, then heavy elements form and it expands into red super giant, supernova, temp high to make elements heavier than iron that scatter. Can either be neutron star or black hole.
How do satellites orbit?
velocity changes, speed same, gravity keeps it, faster nearer earth
