  • it covers stop&search, arrest, investigation, etc

A
  • Rachel Nickell was murdered in 1992
  • The media focussed on the murder and it increased the pressure on the police
  • Colin fit the profile of a loner, living alone and odd behaviour - created by forensic profiler
  • A police officer named ‘Lizzie James’ went undercover and contacted Colin Stagg
  • For 5 months she repeatedly talked about Nickell and exchanged letters with sexual fantasies to incriminate Stagg
  • The entrapment evidence was not inadmissible and the trial was acquitted in 2004
  • Robert Napper was the actual murderer
  • Colin spent 13 months in custody ans was awarded £706,000 in compensation
