A

limited sun exposure, GI malabsorption, chronic diarrhea, pregnancy, residents of long-term care (inadequate sun exposure), dark skin (do not synthesize vitamin D as easily)

· Muscle weakness
· Pain is often worse at night and affects lower back, pelvis, hips, legs, ribs
