Topic 2 Flashcards
(10 cards)
Law of Large Numbers
As the number of observations increases, the proportion of occurrences of a specific outcome approaches the actual probability p of that outcome
Disjoint Outcomes
Mutually exclusive / canβt happen at same time
Sample Space
The collection of all the possible outcomes of a random experiment.
Complementary Events
Mutually exclusive events whose probability adds up to 1
Independent probabilities
Knowing the outcome of one provides no information about the other (coin flip)
Multiplication Rule for Independent Events
P(A and B) = P(A) * P(B)
Conditional Probability
One event impacts the probability of another (drawing cards) P(π΄ ππ§π π΅)=P(A)ΓP(B|A)
Test Sensitivity
Percentage of correct predictions
Test Specificity
1 - false positive rate
Bayes Theorem
P π΄1 π΅ =
P π΅ π΄1)π(π΄1) /
P π΅ π΄1)π π΄1 + P π΅ π΄2)π π΄2 + β― + P π΅ π΄π )π(π΄π )
