Aims of contraception
1) prevent sperm and egg from meeting
2) prevent implication of fertilised egg into uterus

-worn over penis during intercourse to prevent sperm entering vagina

Condom pros
• The male takes responsibility for contraception
• They help to protect both partners from STI’s
• There are no medical side effects from using a condom
• Only need to use them when having sexual intercourse
• Don’t require advance planning, clinic visits or prescription
• Inexpensive
• Readily available
• Have minimal side effects
Condom cons
- can easily spilt or slip off during intercourse
- the man must withdraw very soon after her ejaculates so it doesn’t spill out
- expensive it used regularly
-some people could be allergic to the latex

Worn inside vagina
Prevents sperm and egg from meeting
Protection against stds

Patient may forget to take tablet which can make it inneffective
