State the benefits of a tall structure
- each manager has a small span of control which leads to better supervision of workers which leads to better productivity of workers
- lots of chances for employees to gain promotion up the heirarchy which is motivational
State the benefits of a flat structure
-Faster communication from top to bottom which means that decisions will be made quicker and messages are less likely to be misinterpreted
- staff at bottom are closer to managers and so they may feel more inportant and contribute more ideas
