What is Le Chateliers principle?
When a reaction is in equilibrium, if there is a change to the conditions, the system will respond to counteract the change and restore the conditions
If the concentrations of the reactants increase what will happen to a reaction in equilibrium?
The equilibrium will shift right to produce more of the products
If the concentration of the products decreases what will happen to the equilibrium?
The equilibrium will, shift left to produce more of the reactants
What will happen to an equilibrium if the temperature increases.
The equilibrium will shift so the endothermic reaction will be favoured in order to decrease the temperature
What will happen to the equilibrium if the temperature decreases?
The equilibrium will shift to favor the exothermic reaction in order to increase the temperature
What is the effect if increasing the pressure on a reaction in equilibrium
The equilibrium will shift to favor the side that has fewer moles of gas in order to decrease the pressure
