Engine Fire on Ground - Engine Started
- Run 1,200 RPM to blow out fire
Engine Fire on Ground - Engine has NOT started
- Mixture - Idle Cutoff
- Throttle Full Forward
- Crank Engine with Starter
If Above Fails:
1. Stop Engines
2. Use hand fire extinguishers
Engine Fire In Flight
Affected Engine:
1. Mixture - Idle Cutoff
2. Propeller -Feather
3. Fuel Selector - OFF
4. Oil Shutoff - OFF (Pull Out)
5. Throttle - Full Open
6. Boost Pumps - OFF
7. Ignition - OFF
8. GEN Switch - OFF
9. Trim for single engine flight
Fuselage Fire
- Batt and Gens - OFF
- Heater Air Valve - OFF (PULL)
- Extinguish Fire with Hand Extinguisher
If fire is electrical:
1. All CB’s and electrical Equipment OFF
2. Turn BATT and GEN switches ON
3. Attempt to isolate source of fire
4. If you cannot isolate source of fire, or if fire restarts land as soon as possible.
Wing Fire Aft of Firewall
- All Electrical Circts into the wing - OFF
a. LDG and Taxi Lights
b. NAV Lights
c. Heater
d. Scoop Heaters
e. Stall Warning Heater - Heater Valve - OFF
- Slip - AWAY From Fire
- LAND IMMEDIATELY
Engine Failure Before 100 mph
- Throttles Closed
- Use Maximum Braking
If not enough runway left: - BATT & GENs - OFF
- Fuel Selectors - OFF
- Manuever to avoid obstacles
Engine Failure ABOVE 100 mph
- Throttles - Max Power
- Gear - Up
- Flaps - Up
- Identify Failed Engine
- Failed Engine - Throttle Closed
- Failed Engine - Feather
- Maintain Vxse or Vyse as appropriate (About 115 mph)
- When Time permits, secure failed engine
Engine Failure in Flight
- Identify Failed Engine
- Failed Engine - Throttle closed
- Check Fuel Pressure to Failed Engine. Boost Pump - On
- Switch Fuel Tanks
- If engine does not restart:
a. Mixture - Idle Cutoff
b. Propeller - Feather
c. Secure Engine
