Procedure for individual surrendering an Infant left at a Station.
- Pt. may not be left unattended, must be left in custody of a medical professional.
- Infant must be 30 days or younger, with no evidence of abuse.
- Individual surrendering infant is not required to provide any information about infant or parents.
Procedure for crew recieving infant.
- Notify BC, and comm center that company is out of service.
- Encourage individual to provide identities of parents, infant, and himself, gather family/medical history.
- Notify State office for services to children and families, after hours contact Police
- Transport infant to hospital for assessment.

Describe the Triage tag levels.
Red-Immediate
Yellow-Delayed (1-3 hours for transport)
Green-Walking wounded 3 or more hours for transport
Black-Deceased
What two forms of treatment may be performed during primary triage?
Position airway, control bleeding.
Which MCI position coordinates all on scene ems activity?
Medical group
In an MCi when a unit is ready to transport what information needs to be provided to hospital.
Triage tag number, color, age, gender, unit number transporting.
Contaminated strip on triage tag has three functions, what are they?
- Prompts responder to consider presence of contaminants.
- Identifies contaminated victims prior to decon, remove tag after decon and place in bag with contaminated clothes.
- Tag stays with clothes identifying them as evidence for law enforcement.

Smith cot
What device should not be used for pt. with suspected back or neck injury?
Smith cot or large people mover
What radio tac should be used for helicopter communications?
State fire radio net tac 5, Battalion chiefs also have aircraft radios.
What landing zone conditions should be relayed to Pilot?
Hazards Obstructions Terrain features Surface type and slope Animals/livestock Wind speed and direction
What type of documentation is required when pt. is transferred from medic crew to helicopter?
A PCR must be completed anytime their is pt. contact. If pt. is not transported in ambulance to helicopter, it may be documented as a aid call.
When may a paramedic accompany pt. in helicopter transport?
When lower level of care is on helicopter, coast guard or national guard.
What size should a landing zone be?
125’x125’ with less than 10 degree slope.
Where should LZ coordinator be positioned?
Upwind of landing zone, with back to the wind.
What is hand signal to waive off landing?
Crossing and uncrossing arms over your head.
How many assistants should a LZ coordinator have, what are there jobs?
Three, two are perimeter guards after helicopter lands, third assists coordinator.
