A

Transom is an analgesic. it has multiple actions with the central nervous system, including opiate receptor stimulation and inhibition of the re-uptake of noradrenaline and serotonin.

A

Moderate to severe pain. Particularly if an opiate and/or ketamine is not going to be administered.

A

Known Severe allergy.

Aged less than 12 years

Cautions

A
  • Taken within the last 4 hours.
  • Abdominal pain. particularly if the patient is unwell and/or vomiting.
  • aged >75 years particularly if there is a history of confusion or dementia.
  • Confusion. Tramadols antichlolinergic activity may worsen confusion.
  • pregnancy, should usually be withheld

A

can cause serotonin syndrome when administered in combination with other serotonin increase recreational or prescribed drugs. e.g. tricyclics, ecstasy.
