Transduction Process For OLFACTORY Flashcards
(8 cards)
First step in Transduction of Olfactory stimulus
- Odorant molecules bind to olfactory binding proteins
2nd step?
If the first is
1. Odorant molecules bind to olfactory binding proteins
- The odurant receptor detects the signal. It is also connected to a G-protein.
3rd step in Transduction of Olfactory Stimulus?
- G-protein activation stimulater AdenylyI Cyclase
4th step
If the 3rd step iS :
- G-protein activation stimulater AdenylyI Cyclase
- Adenylyl cyclase will convert ATp to cAmp
For the fifth in the transduction process
cAMP opens calcium channels allowing calcium ions influx into the olfactory cell.
The sixth step of Transduction of Olfactory Stimulus
Calcium triggers the opening of chloride channels, causing cl- to exit the olfactory Cell.
7th Step:
if 6th step is:
Calcium triggers the opening of chloride channels, causing cl- to exit the olfactory Cell.
7.) Causes depolarization -90 MV to +35 MV
8th step and last is:
The electrical impulse then travels through Olfactory system to the CraniaI nerve .
