indications for Red cell transfusion?
Anaemia
Acuted blood loss
Indicaiton for FFP transfusion?
Bleeding or surgery in liver disease with imparied coag
Coagulopathy
DIC
How does Acute haemolytic transfusion reaction occur?
Complement and MAC rupture red cells
Thromboplastic material leads to activation of coag mechanism–> DIC
Bradykinin
How long does a delayed haemolytic reaction usually take to set in?
5-10 days post transufsion
Features of DHTR?
Similar to acute reaction
Unexplained fall in Hb
Jaundice, renal failure, biochemical features associated with IHTR
Investigation of febrile non haemolytic transfusion reactions
HLA antibodies may be detectable
No evidence of red cell incompatibility
