Translation Flashcards
1
Q
Translation steps
A
- mRNA leaves nucleus and attaches to small subunit of ribosome at the start codons
- tRNA molecule w complementary anticodon goes opposite mRNA and is held in place by ribosome
- Two amino acids from tRNA will be joined via peptide bonds
- Ribosome will move along mRNA to the next codon and another complementary tRNA will attach
- Continue until stop codon where ribosome detaches

Step 5
A
This continues until a stop codon is reached, where ribosome detaches and translation stops
