Translocation Flashcards

1
Q

Translocation Steps

A
  • Companion cells move H+ ions into source (AT)
  • Created conc gradient. H ions diffuse back into companion cells with sucrose (facilitated diffusion)
  • Sucrose moves into sieve tubes
  • Lowers water potential. Water enters from xylem and increases hydrostatic pressure.
  • Water and sucrose forced down phloem.
  • Sucrose removed at sink. Increased water pot so water moves out. Increased hydrostatic pressure .pressure gradient created.
