Transmission Mals Flashcards
(9 cards)
Abnormal Vibration
Check for cautions
Flow Diagram.
No cautions, in flight then reduce severity of manoeuvre and fly within ACSR off envelope.
If caution, do that drill.
MGB LOPRESS
Gen 2 switch off
WARNING: if any mechanical noise, vibration, or burning smell with the failure: LAND IMMEDIATELY.
30 min run dry time at low power setting.
MGB OIL HOT
Achieve Safe Flight
50 - 90 KIAS will provide best cooling.
ROTOR ROTOR/ROTOR HIGH/OVERSPEED audio
Check NR
Adjust collective to maintain RPM
Tail rotor drive failure in hover
Reduce collective pitch
stop drift with cyclic
Immediately after touchdown, shutdown engines
Or
Enter autorotation
Crash checks
Shutdown engines
Conduct EOL
Tail rotor drive failure in forward flight
Establish autorotation at 80kts
Carry out crash checks
Shutdown engines
Conduct EOL
Tail rotor control failure/jam in the hover
Lower collective
Stop drift with cyclic
Immediately after touchdown, shutdown engines.
Tail rotor control jam/failure in forward flight
Change power/speed to control yaw
Yaw right: lower collective
Yaw left: raise collective
Use lat cyclic to control yaw (cross control)
If col forces increase, place feed on pedals
Sustained level flight achievable?
No:
Descending:
Low rotor thrust.
Immediate auto may be required.
Fly 80kts, cross control to landing area
Enter auto with crash checks
EOL
Climbing:
High rotor thrust
Reduce speed until descending, reduce NR to aid descent
Descend with high Tq/low airspeed
Beware vortex ring
Wind from right helpful
Land ASAP
Severe Vibration in flight
Relax grip on flying controls
Turn into wind (if low speed/hover)
Steady level flight 60-100kts
Unacceptable? ASE out
Still bad? ASE in
ACSR off and CB out.
If still not acceptable:
LAND ASAP and shutdown immediately.
If vibration increases, land immediately.
