16
Q

What may an abnormal percussion note indicate?

A

An abnormal sound may indicate ankylosis (high pitched). But be wary of teeth with large composite restorations which sound slightly different to healthy tooth.

17
Q

How to do mobility testing?

A

Gently test the tooth with either 2 blunt instruments (handles) or with one instrument and 1 finger.

18
Q

What does abnormally loose mobility indicate?

A

Abnormally loose could be as a result of infection, resorption or a root fracture.

19
Q

What is no mobility associated with?

20
Q

What is residual mobility associated with?

A

Residual mobility from luxation/subluxation may be observed if the review is shortly after the accident.

21
Q

How to do EPT testing?

A

Place EPT tip with toothpaste on dry teeth incisal edge. Relocate if large restoration present.

22
Q

If a tooth doesn’t respond to EPT, what does this tell us?

A

Less reliable test and assesses nerve rather than pulpal status. A tooth may not respond but still have an intact blood supply.

23
Q

How to do ECL?

A

Place cold stimulus on labial aspect of tooth.

24
Q

What does no response from ECL tell us?

A

Less reliable test and assesses nerve rather than pulpal status. A tooth may not respond but still have an intact blood supply.

25
What guidelines would you check to know the answer to 'How often would you take radiographs and when would you next review them?'
IADT.
26
What radiographic signs would indicate ongoing vitality?
Absence of signs of pathology, continued root development.
27
what does yellow/ brown indicate in direct colour test
reactionary dentine
28
what are the tests in a trauma review
direct colour trans colour alveolar tenderness sinus TTP and percussion note mobility EPT ECL
