5-6 hours before travel.

Men who have prostate or urinary retention problems.

inhaled antimuscarinics antihistamines amantadine antiarrhythmics TCA's - amitriptyline
When should you take cinnarizine in relation to food?
after food - may cause upset stomach otherwise.
What is the dose of cinnarizine for children and what age group is suitable?
5-11 y = 15mg (1 tab) 2 hours before travel then 1/2 tab every 8 hours during the journey if required.
12 or older = 30mg (2 tabs) 2 hors befre travel then 1 tab every 8h PRN.
S/E of cinnarizine?
sedation
nausea
indigestion
What 3 things should you ask the patient if they are taking any medication which causes …?
- makes them drowsy
- gives a dry mouth
- makes it difficult to pee.
Can you drink alcohol while taking travel sickness meds?
Not recommended - sedating effects will be worsened.
When should you take promethazine in relation to your journey?
night before long journey or 1-2 hours before short journey.
S/E promethazine?
sedation headache dizziness restlessness confusion
What are some conditions which rule out use of promethazine?
- glaucoma
- urinary retention/BPH
- epilepsy
