Q

Describe the general distribution of the branches of the trigeminal nerve.

A

Three branches supply skin with the zones meeting at the corner of the eyes and mouth. These are sensory and proprioceptive. Each branch has 5,3,3, branches

Q

Where does the zygomaticotemporal nerve exit and what does it supply?

A

Via the temporal fossa through a foramen in the temporal surface of the zygomatic bone. It supplies the hairless part of the temple.

16
Q

What is the course of the auriculotemporal nerve? What does it supply?

A

Passes around the neck of the mandible and ascends over the posterior root of the zygomatic arch.
The auricular part supplies the external acoustic meatus, tympanic membrane and skin of the auricle below.
The temporal part supplies the hairy skin over the temple

17
Q

What does the buccal nerve supply?

A

A thumb print over the cheek below the zygomatic bone

18
Q

What is the mental nerve a branch of? What does it supply?

A

A branch of the inferior alveolar nerve that breaks up into a tuft of branches that radiate to supply skin and mucous membrane of the area.
