Triune God Flashcards

How did the authority of magisterium come about
When the apostles preeched and evangelised they set religious leaders of the church in each area. This was done by laying hands onto someone - this gave the holy spirit to the bishop of that area. When peter died in Rome there was an unbroken chain of bishops of Rome (popes). The popes and bishops make up magisterium, guided by the holy spirit.
How is the trinity depicted in the bible
Genesis - god created the world through his word - Jesus is known as the word of God. ‘God created’ refers to the father. The ‘wind from God’ could refer to the Holy Spirit.
Jesus’ baptism - The light from Heaven and the words from heaven could reflect God the father. The presence of Jesus is in the water being baptised. The water from baptism could reflect the holy spirit.
What were the two councils involved in the talks of the trinity
Nicea - confirmed the son is eternally begotten from the father
