Q

what is one way to measure the overall performance of a storage device?

A

by measuring the IOPS (input/output per second). IOPS is a metric used to measure the performance and speed of storage devices such as HDDs and SSD.

16
Q

what is the IOPS of a hardrive?

A

200 IOPS

17
Q

what is the IOPS of an SSD?

A

up to 1,000,000,000 IOPS

18
Q

what do you do if you boot your computer and the drives you’re expecting to see are simply not listed?

A

Check the BIOS, if you dont see the drive listen in BIOS, there may be loose or missing cables or you may need to reseat the M.2 on the motherboard. If the missing drive is a network share, then we may have missed the drive being mounted during the start up process. You may need to run the log in script again and go through the process of mapping appropriate drives.

19
Q

what does it mean to reseat the M.2 on the motherboard?

A

it means to pysically remove and then reinstall an M.2 SSD. It is a troubleshooting step.
