1) You recently installed a new graphics package. However every time you run the application it runs very slow. Identify possible reasons why the application is running slow and give a solution.
A) PC does not have the minimum requirements update Ram or other
B) Corrupt installation – re install
C) Virus – run anti-virus software
D) Hard drive full - create space or add additional/larger hard drive
Graphics Package Running Slow:
Possible Reasons:
*Incompatible graphics drivers. *Insufficient hardware resources (CPU, RAM, GPU). *Software conflicts. **Solution:** *Update graphics drivers. *Check system requirements and upgrade hardware if necessary. *Identify and resolve any software conflicts.
2) Some laptop users have recently move desks. They now are experiencing very slow connection to the wireless Access point. Identify possible reasons and give a solution.
a. Interference from other devices - reposition away from interfering device
b. Laptop at outer range of the range – move AP closer or move laptop nearer AP
c. Obstruction (metal pole) – move AP closer or move laptop away from obstruction
Slow Wireless Connection Possible Reasons:
*Increased distance from the wireless access point.
*Interference from other electronic devices.
*Network congestion.
Solution:
*Check and optimize the physical placement of the wireless router.
*Reduce interference by placing the router away from other electronic devices.
*Consider upgrading to a dual-band router to reduce congestion.
3) A small charity have 3 computers in the office. There is on desktop printer connected to one of the computers. The other users want to be able to access this printer from their own computer. What steps must be done to allow this to happen
On printer must be configured as a shared printer
The printer drivers must be installed on all computers
All computers setup as a workgroup

*Connect the printer to the computer.
*Enable printer sharing on the computer with the connected printer.
*Share the printer on the network.
*On other computers, add a network printer and select the shared printer.
4) A Computer is unable to connect to other devices on the same network. Identify possible reasons and give a solution
a. Is PC on same network –configure device to same network
b. Faulty NIC – replace or secure NIC
c. Faulty cable –replace cable
d. Incorrect cable type – connect appropriate cable
5) Recently the IT department have had to deal with many issues on company devices due to computer viruses. Some of the effects have been very severe.
What advice would you give the company to help prevent future issues?
Train staff on security
