How does type II diabetes develop?
A
Not fully understood yet but one model proposes:
Insulin sensitivity↓, so insulin secretion↑, when max insulin secretion reached, secretion declines and blood glucose↑ as glucose tolerance is impaired.

What is Hyperosmolar Hyperglycaemic State (HHS)
A
Medical emergency involving hyperglycaemia, dehydration and uraemia
Occurs in long term ignored diabetics
Common in aged and afro-carribean

Define uraemia
A
Uraemia is a build up of toxins in your blood
Occurs when the kidneys stop filtering toxins out through your urine

Reduce weight
Reduce fat intake
Increase dietary fibre
