Types Of Forces Flashcards
(10 cards)
Magnetism
A force exerted between a magnet and a magnetic object.
Friction
Friction is the force that opposes motion, when two surfaces rub against each other it causes friction.
Upthrust
When objects are placed in fluids they experience upthrust. An object will float is the force of upthrust equals the weight of the object. If upthrust is greater than the weight of the object they go up - hot air balloons.
Gravity
Gravity is the force of attraction exerted between objects due to their mass. The distance and mass affect force of gravity.
Air Resistance
It is a force that opposes motion of objects moving through the air.
Repulsive force
Repulsive force is when it stops two objects from touching each other.
Electrostatic
Electrostatic forces is the act of an attractive or repulsive forces between charged objects.
Tension force
Tension force is a pulling force that acts in a rope.
Contact force
A contact force is any force that occurs when two objects that are touching each other.
Non Contact Force
A non contact force is a force which acts on an object without being in contact.
