They are owned by a brewery. The manager and the staff are employed by the brewery.
How are tenanted or leased pubs owned?
Are owned by a brewery but are leased to a licensee who manges and runs the pub independently although the pub has to sell the brewery’s beer.
How are free houses owned?
They are owned and managed by a licensee who are allowed to sell drinks from any supplier they choose.
What is a brewery?
A place that makes beers usually on a large scale then they sell it to restaurants and bars etc.
What is a licensee?
The person who holds the license to sell alcohol this person also usually manges the business.
