parliament composition
parliaments composition is a bicameral strcture with elected representitves who are entrusted with represting the views of poeple from their electrate
diverse representation and lawmaking
parliament should contain a diverse collection of genders, cultures and relgiions to fully represent the differing views of the community
regular elections
population has frequent oppurtunities to vote in new represetitives if they feel the current one isnt sufficiently doing their job
3 strengths of rep nature
regular election pressure MPs to display intent to rep thei rpoeples views
increasing number of women being elected into parli displaying changing views
compulsary voting ensures aus democracy is as representative as possiblelimi
3 limitations of rep struct
members of parli may not vote for law reform in areas which will only gain support from minority groups eg aboriginal affairs
MPs may be compelled to vote along parli lines
to retiain voters MPs may pass bills representing majority of society not everyone
