Catholic Epistles
A
The New Testament letters, from James to 3 John. Addressed to the universal (or “catholic” which means “entire”) church.

A
A title for a king, servant of God, or the future ideal king. Jesus, whom they believed to be the messiah.

A
Having to do with the messiah or with the era that the messiah was inaugurating.

Davidic Dynasty
A
The direct descendents (family) of King David, who ruled in Jerusalem from the tenth to the early sixth centuries BCe.

Synoptic Gospels
A
Matthew, Mark, and Luke. “Synoptic” means “view together,” and is applied to these writings because they, unlike John, can be readily compared.
