(6 cards)
weaker, isn’t multiparty as main elections to westminister are dominated by 2
-18/20 govs con lab majorities as fptp benefits them
-mandates from landslides allow them to govern 2024,2019,1997
-minor parties never been in power, LD 3rd largest coalition but not as much of an impact 2010 LD 23% vote
-arguably more of a con failure than a LD win
westminister elections are representing minor parties and creating a multiparty system
-SNP impact 2015/2024 3rd largest, 56/59 seats, many supporters over indep agenda
- Green 2024 increase
- Reform 5 seats

- regional mps like SF DUP Alliance all have seats

-parl sov so devolved elections have little impact
- scotland’s GBR rejected by conservative gov in west minister
-pre 2025 11/12 lab mayors and 1 con, only ever 1 indep before that
- lab dominance in wales 30/60 seats in coalition with PC
-devolved elections have law turnout
devolved regions minor party impact is now immense
- Rise of reform in local elections over 500, mayoral (2) 2025
- DUP/SF coalition NI dominate
- SNP/GREEN first time in gov
Minor parties are ignored and lack membership and media attention compared to major parties

-Lab 300k and con 130k membership - green and snp 60k
-pc 10k

- reform 230k, close to lab
- reform immigration agenda influenced conservative rwanda and labour point based immigration system
- UKIP local elections 140 2014 led to con adding EU ref in manifesto, eventually leading to brexit whilst never actually having any seats in parl
