Q

What do scientists use to conduct invastigations?

A
  • laws
(used to predict, describe, and summarize)
  • theories
(used to explain why things happen)
  • scentific models
(used to represent a system of ideas, events, or processes)

Q

What is the scientific method?

A

A procedure scientists use to see if their hypotheses is correct through…

-Systematic observation

-Measurement

-Experiment

-Creating formulas, testing, and changing hypotheses

This method ensures the results are valid and reliable.

Q

What are the steps to the scientific method?

A
  1. Determine what question you would like answered
  2. Make a hypothesis (to the answer of your question)
  3. Test your hypothesis through experiments
  4. Think: what was the conclusion of the results? Was your hypothesis correct or not?

5.

a. If your hypothesis was correct, move onto step six

b. If your hypothesis wasn’t correct, go back to step 2 and change your hypothesis before going through the procedure again

  1. Write your findings in a report

Q

What is validity in the scientific method?

A

How accurate your results are.

Also, making sure the results measured what it was suppossed to.
For example, if something in the conditions changed the results, the results wouldn’t measure what the scientist wanted it to.
