- Good service provision like universities and technologically advanced hospitals and health facilities.
- Good transport facilities such as Airports, roads and Ports, such as he port of Tokyo. This has historically allowed for high population growth due to economic migrants coming to to coastal cities caused by jobs resulting from the import of raw materials and the export of manufactured goods.

- These areas also experience an extreme climate, due to the high altitudes, making them very difficult to live in.
