Unit 0 Flashcards
(26 cards)
What is a Control Group
a group that does not include any change to the variable being tested.
What is a Independent Variable
a variable that stands alone and isn’t changed by the other variables
What is a dependent variable
the variable that is being measured or tested in an experiment.
What is a Constant
a quantity that does not change.
What is an example of quantitative data
Height
What is an example of qualitative data?
hair color

Observation
the action or process of observing something or someone carefully or in order to gain information.
Hypothesis
a supposition or proposed explanation made on the basis of limited evidence as a starting point for further investigation.
Experiment
a scientific procedure undertaken to make a discovery, test a hypothesis, or demonstrate a known fact.
Qualitative Data
information that cannot be counted, measured or easily expressed using numbers.
Quantitative Data
value of data in the form of counts or numbers
Graphs
a diagram showing the relation between variable quantities, typically of two variables, each measured along one of a pair of axes at right angles.
Length
the measurement or extent of something from end to end; the greater of two or the greatest of three dimensions of a body.
Mass
how much matter makes up an object
