Unit 0 Flashcards
(25 cards)
Control Group
A group that is used for comparison and dosen’t a independent variable
Independent Variable
Is a variable that is controlled, changed or manipulate in a scientific experiment to found out the reason or cause of its effects.
Dependent Variable
Is a variable that relays or is dependent on the independent variable that is being tested on in an experiment or observation scientifically.
Constants
Is something that remain the same and that does not change in a experiment.
What is an example of quantitative data?
Is data that can be measured or counted in values numerically.
example: number of weeks in the year, the length in centimeters or a person height in inches or feet
What is an example of qualitative data?
Is information that you collect from people through interviews, observation or questionnaires to get the qualities of characteristics of information retrieve.
Example: Questionnaire of of how many people vote
Observation: Soccer team how many players are short and tall
The metric system is based on what multiple(multiply by what base)?
It is based on ten (10)
List some units of the metric system
Some units of the metric system is: gram, meter, and liter
How is length measured in the metric system? What unit?
The length is measured in meters, centimeters, and inches. The unit is meter that is being used.
How is mass measured in the metric system? What unit?
To convert units of mass you must move the decimal point to either the left or right side. The unit is gram.
How is volume measured in the metric system? What unit?
The volume is measured in the metric system by using length x width x height.
The unit is the cubic meter (m3)
How is temperature measured in the metric system? What unit?
The temperature is measured using the celsius scale. Celsius scale is 0 degrees below freezing water and 100 degrees boiling water. The unit is celsius
How is density measured in the metric system? What unit?
Density is measured by the units of mass divided by volume using grams per centimeters cube. The formula for density is d = M/V. The unit is kilogram per cubic meter
What tool do you use to measure length?
The tool that you can use to measure length is a tape measure, ruler or piece of paper for some items.
What tool do you use to measure mass?
The tool that you use to measure mass is scales and balances.
What tool do you use to measure temperature?
The tool that you use to measure temperature is a thermometer
Observation
Is use to develop and test the hypothesis and theories of a scientific experiment by recording and collecting data from the observation it is mainly used by scientist.
Hypothesis
A hypothesis is an explanation of the observed experiment that is a testable statement about the relationship between two or more variables.
Experiment
to test the experimentation or a procedure to carried out under controlled conditions in order to find out the cause and effect
Qualitative Data
Is to describes qualities or characteristics
Quantitative Data
Is using numbers of information that was given
Graphs
Is a diagram that uses curves, line segments or series of one or more points
Length
Is a straight line distance between two points along object
Mass
Is the amount of matter in an object.
