Collective: a group of people or things
Compound: a noun consisting of more than one word ( social studies, bookkeeper)
What is a noun? What types of nouns are there?
A person place thing or noun.
Common nouns: person place or thing
Proper nouns: specific person place or thing w a capital letter
Adjective
Modifies a noun or pronoun and answer: What kind? Which ones? How many? How much?
Adjective Articles
“The” is the definite
“An, a” are indefinite
2 types of adjectives
Proper adjectives: formed from a proper noun
Compound adjectives: a word composed of two or more
3 types of verbs
Action:,tells what action a subject is performing
Linking: connects a subject to a noun or an adjective in the predicate
Helping: assist the main verb in the sentence
Helping verbs
Am,is,are,were,was,be,been,being,has,had,have,do,does,did,May,might,must,can,could,shall,will,should,would
Adverbs
A word that modifies a verb,adjective,or other adverbs
What question to adverbs answer?
Where? When? How? To what extent? USUALLY END IN -LY
Some adverbs
Again, not, almost, alone , already, also, always, away, even, ever, here, just, later, never, now
Common preposition
A word that shows the relationship between a noun or pronoun and another word in the sentence
Compound preposition
Composed of 2 or more words
Preposition or adverb?
Prepositions answer the same questions but have an object
I went down (adverb)
I went down the stairs (preposition)

Connects a group of words or groups of Words
Coordinating
Correlative
Subordinating
Coordinating conjunctions (Fanboys)
