Define human geography
Human geography is the branch of geography that deals with the study of people and their communities, cultures, economies, and interactions with the environment by studying their relations with and across space and place
Define physical geography
the branch of geography dealing with natural features and processes
Define relative location
Using an areas location to describe the location of another
Define absolute location
Using the exact location (latitude and longitude)
Define mental maps
a personal visualization of spatial information
Define activity spaces
An activity space is a geographic extent in which people move in the course of their daily activities
Two ways geographers use maps
as a reference tool and a communication tool

a two dimensional or flat surface model of Earth’s surface, or a portion of it.
Ways we use mental maps
finding out way from point a to point B, organizing and storing information, a way to make meaning
What is a physical map?
focuses on physical features (mountains, valleys, etc.)
What is a political map?
focuses on boundaries between areas
What is a thematic map?
map that shows attributes to a single topic, a theme. (example: girls in north america)
