How does extremism express itself as belief in true faith?
Extremists group use scripture and twist it out of context. If others are not aware of this they tend to believe their leader is right. Also the intense need to make sure their “faith” is being followed might scare their followers and teach them that “this is what God wants” which is completely false.

Is fundamentalism always an expression of extremism?
No it is not, fundamentalists just hold the fundamental beliefs of their religion through interpreting literally. Extremists take one concept of idea and morph it out of context in order to fit their desires. They use verse without background knowledge or without using the previous verses to get the true meaning in order to fit their agenda. For example they might say “God said that we should…” but completely twist the message. No sacred texts say to kill another, which is what most extremists do, along with coercive acts. the main difference is fundamentalism is an
