synonymous

مترادف با یک چیز دیگر
Example:
The town is synonymous with stone.
این شهر مترادف (مثل) یک سنگ است
pupil
someone who is being taught, especially a child
کسی که تحت آموزش است، به خصوص یک کودک . مثلا
دبستانی ها (بیشتر در زبان بریتیش استفاده میشه)
برای داخل چشم انسان ها (مردمک چشم) هم از این کلمه استفاده میکنن
Example:
The school has over 700 pupils.
مدرسه بیش از 700 دانش آموز دارد
restricted
limited or controlled, especially by laws or rules
محدود یا کنترل شده، به ویژه توسط قوانین
Examples:
There is restricted access to this information (=only certain people can have it)
دسترسی محدود به این اطلاعات وجود دارد (=فقط افراد خاصی می توانند آن را داشته باشند)
The sale of alcohol is restricted to people over the age of 18.
فروش مشروبات الکلی به افراد بالای 18 سال محدود می شود.
ambiguous
something that is ambiguous is unclear, confusing, or not certain, especially because it can be understood in more than one way
چیزی که مبهم است گیچ کننده یا قطعی نیست به ویژه به این دلیل که میتوان آن را به بیش از یک روش درک کرد.
Examples:
His role in the affair is ambiguous.
نقش او در این ماجرا مبهم است.
The language in the Minister’s statement is highly ambiguous.
زبان بیانیه وزیر بسیار مبهم است.

در زبان انگلیسی روزمره، افراد به جای اینکه بگویند مبهم است، از عبارت
you can take a two way

What she says is ambiguous. → You can take what she says two ways.
interpret
to explain the meaning of something
توضیح معنای چیزی، تفسیر کردن یک چیزی
Examples:
No one in our tour group spoke Spanish so we had to ask the guide to interpret.
هیچ‌کس در گروه تور ما اسپانیایی صحبت نمی‌کرد، بنابراین مجبور شدیم از راهنما بخواهیم تا تفسیر کند.
The data has not yet been interpreted.
داده ها هنوز تفسیر نشده اند.
wrapping paper
coloured paper that you use for wrapping presents
SYN: gift wrap

Examples:

Examples:

Examples:
‘She’s a lot older than you, isn’t she?’ ‘Fifteen years, to be precise.’
«او از تو خیلی بزرگتر است، اینطور نیست؟» «به طور دقیق پانزده سال».
It was difficult to get precise information.
به دست آوردن اطلاعات دقیق دشوار بود.

Example:

spirit
the part of someone that you cannot see, that consists of the qualities that make up their character, which many people believe continues to live after the person has died

بخشی از کسی که نمی توانید آن را ببینید، که شامل ویژگی هایی است که شخصیت او را تشکیل می دهد، که بسیاری از مردم معتقدند پس از مرگ فرد به زندگی خود ادامه می دهد.

Examples:

in a way that shows you really mean the opposite of what you are saying

Examples:
‘Thanks for your help, Sam,’ she said ironically. sam hadn’t helped at all.

humorously
funny and enjoyable

Example:

فیلم دارای لحظات کمی طنز است.

در زبان انگلیسی روزمره، مردم معمولاً از

به جای
humourous
استفاده میکنند.
literal
the literal meaning of a word or expression is its basic or original meaning
معنای تحت اللفظی یک کلمه یا عبارت که معنای اصلی آن است.
Example:
A trade war is not a war in the literal sense.
جنگ تجاری به معنای واقعی کلمه جنگ نیست.
figuratively
a word or phrase is used in a different way from its usual meaning, to give you a particular idea or picture in your mind
یک کلمه یا عبارت که به روشی متفاوت از معنای معمول آن استفاده می شود تا ایده یا تصویر خاصی در ذهن شما ایجاد کند، تعبیرکردن،
Examples:
He’s my son, in the figurative sense of the word.
او پسر من است، به معنای مجازی کلمه.
(یعنی پسر من نیست اما مثل پسر خودم میمونه)
The essence of realism, it is not merely figurative but meticulously mimetic.
جوهر رئالیسم، صرفاً تصویری (تعبیر مجازی) نیست، بلکه به طور دقیق تقلیدی است.
