What is human geography?
Human Geography is the branch of geography that deals with people anf their communities, economics, culture and interactions with the environment.
What is geography?
geography is a field of science devoted to the study of the lands, inhabitants, features, adn the phenomena of the earth and planets.
What is physical geography?
physical geography is the branch of. geography dealing with natural features and processes.
what is a political map?
a political map shows the boundaries of states and countries, they also show the location of major cities.
what is a physical map?
a physical map shows things like oceans, rivers, valleys, mountains, and plateaus.
what is a thematic map?
a thematic map shows a particular theme connected in areas.

absolute location is described by using lattitude and longitude.

relative location is the portion of something based on its surroundings.
what 2 purposes do maps serve?
first purpose is as a refrence told to identify an objects absolute and relative location.
second purpose is a communications tool to convey the distribution. of human activites or physical features.
what is a mental map?
a mental map is a personal visualization a spatial information a map inside our minds.
why do we use mental maps?
we use mental maps to find our way from point a to point b, organizing and storing information for future references.
what is a map scale?
a map scale is the level of detail and the amount of area covered on the map.
how are map scales presented?
- ratio or fraction scale
- graphic
- written scale
what is a map projection?
a map projection is a systematic transformation of the latitudes and longitudes from the surface of the sphere into ther locations on a plan, maps cannot be created without map projections.
what is meridian?
a meridian is a circle of constant longitude passing through a given place on place on earth’s surface and the terrestrial poles.
what is longitude?
longitude is the geographic coordinate that specifies the east-west position of a point on the eaths surface
what is latitude?
the geographic coordinate that specifies the norht-south position on the earth’s surfsce, latitude is the angle that ranges from 0 degrees at the equator to 90 degrees.
what are parallels?
the imaginary circle around the earth’s surface formed by the intersection of a plane parallel tot he plane of the equator.
what is a prime meridian?
a meridian (line of longitude) in a geographic coordinate system at which longitude is defined to be 0 degrees.
what is the purpose of map projections?
a systematic transformation of the latitudes and longitudes from the surface of a sphere into the locationds on a plane, maps cannot be created wwithout map projections
what is time zone?
a region of the globe that observes a uniform standard time for legal, commercial, and social purposes
what does UTC stand for?
