Buddha
Founder of Buddhism. (Means “the enlightened one”)
Siddhartha Guatama
Professed to be either a world ruler or universal spiritual leader. (Became The Buddha)
Enlightenment
A state of perfect wisdom where one understands all the truths of the universe
Nirvana
The release from pain and suffering after enlightenment
The Four Noble Truths
Four main ideas laid out in the Buddha’s first service
1) Life is filled with suffering and sorrow (Dukka)
2) The cause of suffering is self-centered desire and attachment (Tanha)
3) The way to end all suffering is to end all desires and attachment (Nirvana= extinction)
4) To reach Nirvana one must follow the eightfold path
Middle Way
The path between desires and self-denial
Eightfold Path
Those who wish to seek enlightenment must this master step by step over many lifetimes.

Seeing things as they really are, not how you think they are
