Unit 2 - Introduction to direct current technology Flashcards
(5 cards)
kirchhoff’s law
include the rules for calculating currents and voltages in meshes and nodes in electrical circuits
KCL
kirchhoff current law
states that charges are preserved and, accordingly, at any node in a network, the sum of the incoming currents must be equal to the sum of the outgoing currents. even for current varing in time
KVL
kirchhoff voltage law
states that the sum of all voltages in a closed mesh must always be zero. even for voltages varing in time
voltage divider rule
in a series circuit, the ratio of the voltage drop across a resistor to the total voltage is equal to the ratio of the individual resistor to the total resistance
current divider rule
in a parallel circuit of ohmic resistor, the ratio of the current through an individual resistor to the total current is equl to the ratio of the individual conductance to total conductance
