A

Brown let a small band of slaves to capture the arms at Harpers ferry Virginia, goal was to arm slaves for rebellion, captured then hung for treason

A

Lincoln was elected president, The South feared he would abolish slavery, so South Carolina became the first state to secede one month after the election

South Carolina seceded from the Union, six others followed suit, fort Sumter was a major union for in the South which was attacked by the Confederate army, the union refused to leave but they ran low on supplies and lost

Advantages and disadvantages for the union and Confederacy

A

Union Advantage: population, industrial capacity, transportation networks
Union Disadvantage: unfamiliar ground, had to establish long supply chains which made it hard to get supplies where they were needed
Confederate Advantage: majority of the war was fought on the South’s territory, experienced military leadership,
Confederate Disadvantage: poor transportation networks, poor industry
