It is an emotion that goes beyond romantic relationships and can explain different types of interpersonal relationships
It is composed of 3 elements: intimacy, passion & commitment
What is intimacy?
Closeness, bonding, connection

What is commitment?
staying & fitting together, taking care & shared goals

It decreases similarities e.g. shared weather, environment, friends, daily activities

Ventilation: for some it can act as Ventilation and allow individuals to invest all their capabilities into the relationship

M: use more non-verbal cues and try to avoid talking directly about feelings

M have been socialised to be emotionless & nonexopressive. Being the oposite is portrayed as weak & non masculine

When individuals in a relationship understand each other cognitive processes (e.g. why they do something, their though processes & perspective)

Being deeply affected by your partners emotions & actions

It doesn’t consider biological, evolutionary or role-based influences
