Nationalism
Belief that each nationality is entitled to its own government and national homeland
Alliance system
The triple alliance and triple entente sought to preserve the balance of power, but dragged their members into war
League of Nations
International organization proposed by Wilson and created by the Versailles treaty to promote disarmament and prevent future wars and promote disarmament. The league consisted of a council but had no military force of its own.
Balkans

Political system that developed in Germany, Italy and Spain after WWI, marked by intense nationalism, belief in an all powerful leader and militarism
