What is a vein
A vein is a blue vessel that carries blood with no oxygen to the heart (c system)
What is an artery
An artery is a red vessel with oxygen that carries blood away from the heart and to the tissue (c system)
What is the aorta
The aorta is the biggest and main artery of the body and carries blood to the circulatory system. (c system)
What is a capillary
It is the smallest vessel between the arteries and veins. They transport nutrients and oxygen to the organs (c system)
What are the atrias
They are the 2 upper chambers of the heart. They receive blood through veins and push it through ventricles (c system)
What are ventricles
They are the muscular lower chambers of the ❤️. They pump blood out into the circulatory system. (c system)
What are kidneys
They Remove waste and extra water (to make urine) to keep chemicals balanced (u system)
What is the bladder
It stores the urine until it is full. As it fills it expands. When you are ready to urinate your bladder walls contract and your sphincter releases. (u system)
What are nephrons
They are the tiny filtration units of the kidney. They all consist of amino acids, urea, uronic acids, and a whole lot of 💧. (u system)
What is the liver
It filters out blood by losing worn out blood cells and some nutrients. (d system)
What is the large intestine
It has smooth inner walls which absorb water and vitamins and send them out to the body. The colon and anus are parts of the large intestine. (d system)
What is the small intestine
It is looped coiled and folded into the middle of the lower body. Almost surrounded by the large intestine. The folds are made up of finger like parts called villi. Villi helps further digest the food. (d system)
What is the difference between directed and non directed donations
Directed: you know who you are donating to and you picked them. Usually a family member or friend.
Non directed: You don’t know who you are giving it to. It is for someone in need.
What are some criteria you need to be an organ donor
*must be over 18
*cannot have any conditions that could jeaprodize your health
Cannot have cancer heart disease or diabetes
