charlie hebdo (censorship)

A

On January 7, 2015, two gunmen attacked the offices of Charlie Hebdo, a French satirical newspaper.

The attackers, brothers Saïd and Chérif Kouachi, killed 12 people, including journalists and police officers.

The attack was in response to Charlie Hebdo’s cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad, which were seen as offensive by some Muslims.

The incident sparked a global debate about the balance between freedom of expression and respect for religious beliefs.

The attackers claimed Al-Qaeda inspiration, framing the attack as revenge for insults to Islam
