Pectoralis Major
Origin: clavicle (sternal end), sternum, cartilage of ribs
Insertion: inter-tubercular sulcus and greater tubercle of hummers
Action: arm flexion, medial roation, adducts arm
Deltoid
Origin: clavicle, acromion, spine of scapula
Insertion: deltoid tuberosity of humerus
Action: abduction - flexes, medially rotates arm, extends and laterally rotates the arm
Latissimus dorsi
Origin: spines of lower thoracic vertebra
Insertion: inter tubercular sulcus of humerus
Action: arm extension, adducts and medially rotates the arm
Teres major
Origin: Scapula
Insertion: inter-tubercular sulcus of humerus
Action: extends, medially rotates and adducts the arm
Carocobrachilalis
Origin: coracoid process of scapula
Insertion: shaft of humerus
Action: flexes and adducts the arm
Supraspinatus
Origin: supraspinous fossa
Insertion: greater tubercle of humerus
Action: abducts the arm
Infraspinatus
Origin: infraspinous fossa
Insertion: greater tubercle of the humerus
Action: laterally rotates the arm
Teres minor
Origin: later border of scapula
Insertion:greater tubercle of the humerus
Action: laterally rotates the arm
Subscapularis
Origin: subscapula fossa of scapula
Insertion: lesser tubercle of the humerus
Action: medially rotates the arm
Tricep brachii
Origin: long head –> infraglenoid tubercle of scapula, medial and later heads –> shaft of humerus
Insertion: olecranon of ulna
Action: extends
Brachialis
Origin: humerus
Insertion: coronoid process of ulna
Action: flexion
Bicep brachi
Origin: short head –> caracoid process, long head –> supraglenoid tubercle
Insertion: radial tuberosity
Action: flexes and supinates the forearm
Brachioradialis
Origin: later supracondylar ridge of humerus
Insertion: styloid process of radius
