Casts: (possible referral)

red blood cell cast= Glomerular
white blood cells cast = Pyelo

A

UTI
Macrobid- nitrofurantoin monohydrate, Bactrim-sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim. Cipro
do a C & S and match it

If they have UTI and on warfarin do not give?

A

Bactrim-sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim.

What if they have had heel pain in the past with an abx which abx do we stay away from for a UTI?

A

cipro (fluoroquinolones) at risk for tendon rupture/ increased lactic acid
Edu pt to report heel pain or tendon pain
