What is the main idea of utilitarianism

How is this measured
Intensity’s- how intense pleasure or pain
Duration - how long it lasts
Certainty - how likely pleasure or pain will concur
Proximity - how soon it will be experienced
Fecundity - likelihood action leads to further pain or pleasure
Purity - likelihood action leads to mixed consequences
Extent - how many people affected by action
What was another idea of utilitarianism
J.S Mills believe their was a quality issue - “better Socrates dissatisfied than a pig satisfied”
Humans have a lot more to give than a pig, no matter how’s intelligent, smart or cute a pig may be; a human should always be able to surpass this .
This created higher and lower pleasures.
