Virtue Ethics Flashcards

What are the beliefs in virtue ethics
Morality is about developing good character traits (like honesty, courage, kindness).
• A good person will naturally make good decisions—not by following rules or calculating outcomes, but by acting virtuously in each situation.
• It’s about flourishing (eudaimonia)—living a full, excellent human life.
What are some other beliefs in virtue ethics
Aristotle is the founder of virtue ethics. He taught that virtues lie in the “golden mean” between extremes (e.g. courage is the mean between cowardice and recklessness)
Aristotle also believed that every living thing has an end it naturally aims towards. He thought that the aims, goal or teleological of every human being was eudomonia
